Burglaries are up from 651,000 in 2009/10 to 701,000 in 2011/12 and car theft has risen by 2%. While the home office reports that a 2% rise in car crime is not ‘significant’, the loss and trauma caused to victims of car crime is not insignificant. And that’s not the only rise; rates of ‘other household theft’ which include thefts from non-connected domestic garages, have also ‘shown an upward trend’ over the last four years; in 2004 there were a reported 1000 cases of ‘other theft’ while in 2012 that number had increased by 50% or half. A garage door covers a large surface and it can either protect your car and home or advertise it. As many garages are front-facing, anyone looking at your home or coming to call upon your door won’t miss your garage door easily; an old, damaged or simply weathered garage door can compromise the security of your home and family. Potential burglars are far more likely to be attracted to a door which appears older, less secure or damaged. Fortunately, there is no need for anyone these days to have a weathered, damaged or otherwise unattractive garage door.
Lakes Doors’ bespoke garage doors allow you to have the door you want while protecting your home from visits you do not want. While we provide examples for anyone who would like to see examples of our work or adjust a door to their own specification that is not all we do. One of the exciting things about our garage doors is that they can provide a blank canvas on which you can put your own mark, however bold.
Alternatively, you might require bespoke garage doors because you desire a door which blends harmoniously with the appearance of your home. Garage doors are not traditionally viewed as subtle things, but there is no reason why they shouldn’t be. All you need to ask yourself is, ‘what do I need from a garage door and what do I want from a garage door?’ Bring your answers to us here at Lakes Doors and we will work hard to help you achieve the rest.
