Up & Over garage doors are single or double panel. As the door is opened it moves as a single piece into a horizontal position overhead.
View our range of up and over garage doors
Up and Over garage doors are available in either single or double panels and work in a way that, as the garage door is opened, a single one-piece door is moved overhead into a horizontal position. Up and Over garage doors are available as both canopy and retractable types:
Canopy Garage Doors
Canopy up and over garage doors have no track which extends into the garage and, in this option, the door mechanism is contained within the door frame itself. When in an open position, the garage door forms a ‘canopy’ which protrudes out of the front of the garage. Canopy up and over garage doors are generally not suitable for automation.
Retractable Garage Doors
Retractable up and over garage doors slide ’up and over’ on horizontal tracks which extend into the garage. When fully open, retractable garage doors are almost fully contained within the garage and are suitable, should you wish, to electrically operate.
Materials
Steel Up and Over Garage Doors:
Lakes Garage Doors are proud to offer an extensive range of steel up and over garage doors which are supplied galvanized and available with a full paint finish in a range of different colours or with plastic woodgrain foil finishes. All the steel up and over garage doors which we offer are manufactured in either the UK or Germany and come complete with a full warranty.
GRP Up and Over Garage Doors:
Better known as Fibreglass, GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) up and over garage doors are available from Lakes Garage Doors in two finishes; woodgrain and white gloss, with both being available in a wide range of colours. The woodgrain finish on the doors creates a very realistic wooden-looking door without having to undertake the level of maintenance required on a wooden door. The white gloss finish provides a smooth and shiny appearance which is available in a range of different designs. The manufacturing process for GRP up and over garage doors is far more labour intensive than other materials. This makes GRP more expensive than most other materials.
Timber Up and Over Garage Doors:
Timber up and over garage doors are usually produced using cedar wood. This is both durable and naturally rot resistant. In addition, cedar comes in a range of beautifully natural colours. Our timber garage doors are available in an extensive range of designs and, if required, bespoke, using your own design requirements.
