A recent installation of a bespoke garage door in Alderley Edge, Cheshire
Brief:
We are building a new and extremely modern house for a client. We will require an up and over garage door which we can clad on site to match in with the rest of the exterior cladding on the house and the front door. We must be able to clad the frame and the whole of the door so that from the outside the door looks like a solid timber garage door. The opening is large and we will require a door size of 4360mm x 2300mm. We will be cladding the door with horizontal oak boards so it must be able to cope with plenty of weight. The door will also need to be electrically operated.

There are few garage doors available which will actually fulfil this brief but one is the Novoferm OFI Magnum. This is an up and over garage door and OFI stands for open for infill which means this door can be covered onsite (or offsite) with a material of your choice. The door can take up to 14kg per sq metre so is suitable for relatively heavy materials. The door chassis comes in either white or brown as standard and the frame has a galvanised finish. The electric operator that we used on this job was the powerful and reliable Novoferm Novomatic 553NRG.
