Our customer was renovating a stone built cottage in a small Cumbrian village. Consequently, it was essential that the garage door blend in with the surroundings. Not only with cottage, but also in sympathy with other buildings in the village. At the same time, the customer wished the door to be insulated against heat loss, and also a have a modern electrically operated mechanism. They wished to have the door painted to match a sample of a colour not in the British Standard or RAL colour charts, locally referred to as Lakeland Green. This colour was also to match the front door and a storeroom door which were alongside the garage.

The design of the door is a narrow rib which gives an impression of horizontal planking. We made use of the Carteck colour matching service and the door was factory finished perfectly. Lakes Garage Door used a maintenance free trim around the door in the same cream colour as the window frames.
A Novoferm Novmatic 553 operator was used to automate the door. This superb belt driven opener is quiet, smooth, powerful but sensitive to obstructions, and fast. It has an automatic LED light to illuminate the garage each time it operates and comes complete with two keyfob, hand transmitters.
